bakerly chocolate crêpes receive kosher certification
consumer base set to increase with new OU labeling.
Miami, May 30 – bakerly’s chocolate filled crêpes to go have something new going for them.
Not only are the chocolate crêpes delicious and made using an authentic french recipe with real hazelnut chocolate, they are now certified kosher by the United States’ largest kosher certification body!
What does kosher mean? Kosher refers to foods that conform to Jewish dietary regulations. For a product to be certified as kosher, its ingredients and methods of preparation must be in accordance with Jewish law.
Did you know that there are four primary steps to achieving kosher certification? They won’t get listed here, but you can read about them by visiting this page on OU Kosher’s website. We of course have completed all four steps or we would not be making this announcement!
Our kosher crêpes to go will now proudly bear the OU-D symbol. The “D” stands for dairy (duh!) and offers the buyer another layer of information without even reading the ingredients.
Why does a company go kosher? Well, there are several reasons why a company chooses to certify as kosher. Our number one reason is to make our delicious products available to more people. We want as many people as possible to share in the enjoyment of our crêpes to go! Kosher certification also comes with additional benefitsthat go beyond appealing to a new demographic.
“Often labels will sport an ‘O’ with a ‘U’ inside. This is the stamp of approval of the largest kosher-certification body, and basically means there’s no need to read the label…” — Wall Street Journal.
According to OU Kosher, busy shoppers don’t have time to stop and read labels and they will choose the products that have a clear kosher certification. Because of this, a product with a prominent OU symbol is more likely to make it into a shopper’s cart.
That now includes our chocolate crêpes to go!
Offering more information, OU Kosher says most Americans eat some kosher food every day, but chances are they’re not aware of it. Interestingly enough, if you take a walk down the aisle of any supermarket you will see that the OU kosher symbol appears on close to 70% of America’s kosher certified foods, according to OU. Furthermore, over $150 billion of kosher certified products are consumed annually, and spending continues to rise dramatically.
bakerly’s chocolate and caramel crunchy crêpes to go have also received kosher certification. These crêpes, however, are certified by Triangle K kosher.
