what is Shuzz?
Shuzz (pronounced shoes) is a non-profit organization founded by Rita Lombardo with the mission to provide new shoes to children in poverty-stricken areas around the world. Functioning solely through the help and support of volunteers, they have distributed thousands of shoes to children "regardless of race, religion, class or any other criteria," according to their website. For many children around the world, their needs are simple: a pair of shoes that fit. Shoes, especially ones that fit properly, help protect the wearer from injury, infection, and disease and improve the child's overall safety when playing, doing chores, or simply walking to and from school. When Shuzz Fund was founded, they made a promise to use 100 percent of their public donations for projects aimed at shoe distribution. Shuzz finds other resources to cover additional operating expenses so as to ensure their "100% Model," such as depending on private donors, foundations, and sponsors. According to the Shuzz website, these donors are some of the most dedicated people and their investments fuel Shuzz's long-term mission and their ability to scale as an organization. To learn more about Shuzz, head over to their website.
